The book concludes with a list of resources for peeking into the life of this fascinating era. The idea for the book came from the author's having collected 19th century magazines for many years. She compiled as much as she could of the best of these into this entertaining and informative book for those who like antiques and things relating to the Victorian Epoch.

Lucy Booker Roper, who also writes under the pen-name of Lucy LeGrand, is a former history teacher, and is known among her peers as an academic historian. She helped her mother restore a Victorian home, and became interested in all things Victorian.
