This traditional song has been given new life in a board book with big bold illustrations of a young girl and boy. In the opening spread they are touching hands and in the second she is hanging on to his shirttail. Then they are off to play on the teeter totter. The pictures change and new kids are introduced along with the line "'cause your friends are my friends / and my friends are your friends." The kids are playing together and it offers an opportunity to introduce more ethnicity into the group of friends. In the end the two who started out together are back together just as happy as can be. The cheery book and its delightful illustrations will have kids and grownups singing the song.
