Morning Through The Shadows
Morning through the Shadows

Nancy Boyd had everything. A wealthy husband. A beautiful child. Position in society.

Everything but love.

In 1848 she left Ireland and the abusive William Boyd, never to return, taking their child with her. On the trip to America she met Robert McCurdy and they were married that same year.

Unfortunately, she never divorced Mr. Boyd and he had friends in high places....

Morning through the Shadows is based on the true story of Marla Fair's great-great-grandparents, Nancy Cain Boyd and Robert James McCurdy. In 1848, during Ireland's darkest days, Nancy Cain Boyd fled her homeland and an abusive husband, taking their only child, Margaret, with her on a journey to America. Traveling under her maiden name, Nancy dreamed of escape and of finding anonymity in the wilds of the Ohio frontier. On the journey from her native land she met Robert James McCurdy, a man nearly twenty years her senior, with a dark and tragic past – and fell in love. Hunted by her husband, who used his connections with the Masonic Order both in Ireland and America to track her, Nancy was forced to make a bold choice between faith and fear.
