Young motorcycle enthusiasts may enjoy reading general and brief information about their favorite two-wheeled vehicle. Learn about the different parts of the motorcycle and the different types. Examine the labeled, color photographs that support the text that describes the motorcycle parts. This book is marked as "Blastoff Readers Level 1" which is the easiest of the publisher's levels. The informational text features, such as the table of contents, labels, bold print words, glossary, and index, are kept to a minimum. The layout of picture and text is consistent with the text on the left page and the photo on the right. The text on the page is comprised of one or two sentences; the sentences are arranged in multiple lines of text; the lines of text are not consistently broken in phrases. The motorcycle information is divided into chapters; yet, there are no headings at the start of each chapter. Some readers may need an introduction to the informational text features and content vocabulary. For those children who wish to further pursue information on motorcycles, they will find a list of a few additional book titles along with a web site. The web site has a list of Internet sites that are portals to sites about motorcycles and other machines; these sites have viewer ratings. This book is a part of the "Mighty Machines" series which features vehicles and other, large equipment. Reviewer: Carrie Hane Hung
