About the Author

Robert F. Egan (BSME, Case-Western Reserve University; MA, Ph.D., NYU) is Professor of Music Education at the Duquesne University School of Music, Pittsburgh, and was Dean of that school from 1972 to 1982. He directed the Music School of the Henry Street Settlement in New York City from 1954 to 1969 and directed the Evenings-by-the-River Summer Concerts, a series of free summer orchestral programs presented in the East River Park Amphitheatre from 1956 to 1969. He is a past president of the National Guild of Community Schools of the Arts.
