About the Author

Rabson Wuriga was born and bred in Masvingo Province of Zimbabwe. He received a B.A. general degree (Cum Laude) majoring in philosophy, biblical studies, social anthropology and semitic languages through the Foreign Student Scholarship Fund via Hammanskraal Campus of the then Potchefstroom University (now North-West University (Potchefstroom Campus, South Africa)). He then took a dual honours programme that saw him graduating with a BA (Honours) in philosophy, and ThB in religion. After that programme Wuriga went on to study another set of dual masters programme and exited with an MA in philosophy and a ThM in Old Testament studies. In 2001, he joined University of KwaZulu-Natal (Howard College, Durban, South Africa) and graduated with a Ph.D. in philosophy. He returned to North-West University (Vaal Triangle Campus, Vanderbijlpark, South Africa) in 2005 to assume the post of post-doctoral research fellow. During his postdoctoral studies at North-West University, Wuriga published some research articles and reports in various fields ranging from water studies (hydropolitics), social and political philosophy to cultural field.

Alongside his studies and postdoctoral research Rabson Wuriga continued to work with Lemba communities in South Africa and Zimbabwe – representing his community at international fora. His community work received notice locally and internationally. It led to a relationship with different Jewish organizations and people. In the mid-1990s Wuriga started communicating with members and leadership of Kulanu and Lawkeepers – seeking linkage with other Jewish people and communities in different parts of the world. That continued communication with Kulanu led to further links with more people and organizations.
