Overview

Death is everywhere. For Luke and his brothers, this fact had been tucked away at the very back of their minds. It was easy to forget how fragile life was until Bryan showed up one day, mostly drowned, beaten, and blaming them. Bryan told Luke that he and a number of other children had been kidnapped and held prisoner by a group of people who wore cloaks and hoods that kept their faces hidden--the same uniform that Luke wore every day. Now it's up to Luke to find out how much of Bryan's story is true and to see if it is really possible that his people who claim to value human life more than anything else, could be behind something so terrible.

About the Author

H. Elizabeth Ray started writing Open Eyes when she was still in High School. Under the encouragement of her English teacher, she continued with the story after graduating. She was first published in the Tennessee Writer's Association, Young Writer's Competition. Professionally, she works as a Registered Nurse in Tennessee, but continues to write when she is not at the hospital. She lives in Chattanooga, Tennessee with her family and two sugar gliders.
