Overview

Swizz Beatz' second solo album POISON is the brief and purposefully anti-commercial follow-up to 2007's One Man Band Man. The producer cedes the spotlight to at least one lead or guest MC on each track, with AraabMuzik, Bink!, and DJ Scratch individually enlisted on production of four of the ten cuts. The album ranges from the sparse, dusty soul of "Echo," fronted by Nas, to the rat-a-tat fanfare of "Something Dirty/Pic Got Us," where Styles P, Jadakiss, and Kendrick Lamar trade verses. POISON's concision and disregard for airplay bear likeness to Nas' Nasir and Pusha T's Daytona.
