About the Author

Elena Pasquali is the author of numerous books, including Day Is Done, The Lion Little Book of Bedtime Stories, The Lion Nursery Bible, and The Lion Book of Two-Minute Parables. Dubravka Kolanovic has illustrated more than 30 children’s books and cartoon books. Her first picture book, A Special Day, won the Landmark Editions Golden Award.

This collection of prayers with a padded cover has such telling titles as "Being Good," "Love," "Family," and "Nature." The prayers are traditional, anonymous, or attributed. Those unattributed are said to be by Lois Rock. The poem "All things bright and beautiful, All creatures great and small, All things wise and wonderful, The Lord God made them all" is attributed to Mrs. Cecil Frances Alexander. One of the unattributed poems reads: "I think the butterfly says her prayer by simply fluttering in the air. I think the prayer of the butterfly just dances up to God on high." Several poems refer to angels, and angels float around in all the bright, slightly fuzzy illustrations. The illustration for the poem "Helpfulness" shows a little girl and an angel hanging clothes on a line. The book ends with a quote from Mother Teresa of Calcutta: "We can do no great things/ Only small things with great love."
