CHAPTER 1
It was the first beautiful day of the year and Princess Bing Bong was ready to hit the beach. She loaded up her carriage with her father King Flapjack, her best friend Ferris and of course, her pet stuffed monkey Gibbles. They were set for a fantastic day!
Princess Bing Bong wasted no time running into the water wearing all of her favorite floaties and Gibbles tucked safely under her hat to keep dry. She ran so fast through the water, she didn't even notice a crab latched onto her toe. "Ouch!" she cried. "Not again", sighed Gibbles. Something was always happening whenever Gibbles was anywhere, doing anything, with Princess Bing Bong. "Shoo, crab, shoo!" Princess Bing Bong called out. The crab just didn't want to listen.
Princess Bing Bong decided to try out her new fake shark fin. She searched below the water, hoping to spot an octopus or a whale. She had no idea why everyone else had left the ocean, screaming about something, but she enjoyed having the ocean all to herself.
While Princess Bing Bong was enjoying all her swimming, King Flapjack was working on building a giant sandcastle and Ferris was filling the castle's moat with hermit crabs and empty shells. Ferris was fascinated watching the hermit crabs move from one shell home to another. He had a favorite one he named Hermie.
Princess Bing Bong kept herself busy digging a deep hole in the sand. She put Gibbles in charge of letting her know when she reached China. "Can't you see it yet?" asked Princess Bing Bong. "Not yet!" replied Gibbles. Princess Bing Bong wondered if maybe Gibbles wasn't too reliable.
Ferris wanted to try burying Princess Bing Bong in the sand so he could test out his new quicksand experiment. Of course Princess Bing Bong was always up for an adventure and an experiment! Ferris worked and worked. The sand felt cool and refreshing on a hot day but no quicksand. Princess Bing Bong was relieved. Ferris' experiments didn't always work out so well.
Princess Bing Bong decided she would play some Frisbee with Gibbles. He was not very good since he couldn't catch anything. However, Cujo, her neighbor Mr. Scowl's dog, could. He ran up and caught the frisbee, then ran out of sight. "Well, I guess that's enough frisbee" sighed Princess Bing Bong.
While Ferris was busy studying hermit crabs, Princess Bing Bong dug for clams. She didn't have any luck finding any. "There must not be any in this part of the world", she thought.
