The Regulation comes into effect on 1 September 2013 and governs the marketing and use of biocidal products in the European Community. The use of biocidal products and the active ingredients contained therein are designed to protect humans, animals, materials and products against harmful organisms, such as parasites or bacteria. The Regulation also governs the mutual recognition of authorisations in the Community and contains a list, valid at Community level, of active substances that can be used in biocidal products.
