Richard Diamond, Private Detective: Surplus Homicides
Dick Powell established himself as a silver screen icon in the 1930's as the apple-cheeked crooning sensation in countless Depression-era musicals. But, the 1940's found him playing every tough guy from Philip Marlowe, to Richard Rogue ¿ to Richard Diamond, Private Detective. Powell's portrayal of Diamond, and his flawless chemistry with Virginia Gregg as the detective's socialite girlfriend Helen Asher, brought the series' admiringly clever scripts to life. Flippancy and fast quips flew between Diamond and ulcerated cop Lieutenant Levinson (Ed Begley), who really did like Rick in spite of the aggravation he caused. But, that was child's play compared to the suffer-no-fools contempt the P.I. had for the boundless idiocy of Sergeant Otis Ludlum (Wilms Herbert). Sit back and enjoy 16 digitally remastered adventures with a detective who not only solves the perfect crime ¿ but is also in perfect voice. EPISODES INCLUDE: The Jerome J. Jerome Case 09-17-49, The 200,000 Dollar Bundle 09-24-49, René Bennet Protection Case 10-22-49, Bill Kirby Murder Case 10-29-49, The Singing Critic 11-05-49, $50,000 Diamond Heist 11-12-49, The Jacoby Case 11-19-49, William Carter Loses Memory 11-26-49, The Ruby Idol Case 12-03-49, The House of Mystery Case 12-10-49, The John Blackwell Case 12-17-49, Mr. Victor's Daughter 01-15-50, The Jewel Thief 02-19-50, The Martha Campbell Kidnap Case 07-26-50, Edna Wolfe Case 08-09-50, The Rifle Case 06-28-53.
