Australian Tim Neve has a BDA (Design) from the National Institute of Dramatic Art, Sydney. He is the creative force behind Australian Coastal Home magazine and has spent most of the past decade working in styling, producing, and writing features for magazine publications including Real Living, Home Ideas, Country Home Ideas, and Modern Home.

Australian Coastal Home magazine editor Neve travels around Australia to showcase coastal inspirations for interiors. He endeavors to demonstrate how the sea has been incorporated into different decorating themes, such as beachcomber, seafarer, and bohemian, and to encourage the use of a shoreline style throughout the year. Rather than showing entire rooms, the author, in over 250 photographs, provides "styled scenarios," which are as diverse as a darkly moody net enshrouded piano to a brightly colorful restored caravan. Each chapter begins with a suggested mood board of fabric, textures, and inspirational photos as well as a color palette. Starting with an explanation of his design aesthetic in which he links his family history (an ancestor was a furniture retailer, his father a house painter) to his avocation, Neve concludes with a list of designers, products, and online retail venues primarily in Australia. VERDICT The use of vignettes depicting the multiple themes will provide ideas on ways to incorporate a bit of the seaside into home decor.
