About the Author

Miles Hyman studied literature as well as printmaking at Wesleyan University before attending the École des Beaux-Arts. He specializes in graphic novels and adaptations of classic literature. His artwork has been shown in galleries around the world and has appeared in publications such as Le Monde, Libération, GQ, The New Yorker, and The New York Times. He is the grandson of Shirley Jackson. He lives in Paris.

Shirley Jackson (1916–1965) is a towering figure in twentieth-century gothic fiction. She is the author of many books and short stories, including The Haunting of Hill House, Hangsaman, Life Among the Savages, We Have Always Lived in the Castle, and “The Lottery,” which is considered to be her masterpiece.


Miles Hyman is an artist who specializes in graphic novels and adaptations of classic literature. His work has been shown in galleries around the world and has appeared in publications such as The New Yorker, The New York Times, and GQ. He is the grandson of Shirley Jackson. He lives in Paris.
