milky way melt

With its fluffy nougat and caramel, this creamy s’more may launch you right out of this world.

4 Milky Way Minis, regular or dark
1 graham cracker, broken in half
1 marshmallow

Distribute the Milky Way Minis evenly on half of the graham cracker and melt (see page 15). Because the chocolate is thinner than a regular chocolate bar, you won’t need to heat your s’more as long as usual. Roast the marshmallow.
When candy bar pieces are sufficiently gooey, remove graham cracker from heat, add roasted marshmallow and top with remaining graham cracker.

variations: You can also, of course, make this s’more with a graham cracker-size piece of a standard Milky Way bar. I prefer the bite-size Minis because they are easier to spread evenly over the graham cracker, and I like mixing the light and dark varieties in the same s’more. But the essential flavor can be achieved either way.

If you don’t want quite so much nougat, you can use 2 Milky Way Minis and fill in the rest of the graham cracker with regular chocolate bar pieces.

Want to know more about s'mores? Freelance writer Adams has come up with over 60 variations of the traditional campfire treats. No fire, no fear-ovens, stovetops, and even microwaves can do the job (although with decidedly less atmosphere). As for ingredients, choices include the good old graham cracker but also range far afield to cookies, croissants, pound cake, or sliced fruit. While marshmallows still seem to be de rigueur, Marshmallow Peeps® add seasonal variation. The simple Hershey's chocolate bar has a lot of competition as well. Here, the options include other types of candy, Nutella, cookie dough, even pumpkin pie. To really doll it up, add-ins are also suggested (e.g., candy canes, fresh fruit, and popcorn). Lots of luscious color pictures let you see the presentations. Overall, a fun and attractive book, guaranteed to bring out your inner Camp Fire Girl or Boy Scout. Purchase where there is interest.
