In four concise chapters, "Man's Best Friend," "From Wolves to Dogs," "Your Dog's Five Senses," and "Barks and Body Languages" children learn about the human-dog relationship including pack behavior, smell, touch, gesture and all the ways in which we can "hear" our dogs. Captions with highly descriptive photos of a variety of dog breeds provide informative summaries for even the youngest readers. "Dog Data" sidebars located throughout feature interesting facts and behavioral tips about our relationship with dogs such as: "In 1977 scientists at Ein Mallaha, Israel, discovered the 12,000-year-old remains of an elderly person alongside the bones of a puppy.
