Guide to the Symbols for Different Types of Texts or Citations Used with the Book
( )- (...) indicates a verse of the Qur’aan and the source surah of that verse.

{…}-(…) indicates a narration of the Messenger of Allaah, may Allaah’s praise and salutations
be upon him, or a narration from one of the first generations or one of the scholars.
The second set of brackets -(…) is where I have in a basic format referenced and indicated
some but not all, of its sources as well as its similar supporting narrations, as many times these were not present in the original printed or audio sources. All stated rulings of authenticity are from Imaam al-Albaanee or Imaam Muqbil, may Allaah have mercy upon both of them, according to my limited ability. Similarly I have sometimes mentioned other relevant statements about the referred to narrations from these two distinguished scholars which I found in their books. Lastly, long source citations according to narrator have been separated from the text as numbered footnotes to facilitate reading. It should also be noted that the numbering systems of editions vary widely, and in newer printed or electronic editions the enumeration may differ.

[…] indicates an incorrect statement found among some of the common people or from the
callers to falsehood whether from a book or tape.

((… )*-*) indicates the summarized or complete name or description as found in the text being
quoted as a book accepted and recommended by the scholars. In some instances I have translated the title if the work is available in English or for another benefit for the English reader. Immediately following this is a number indicating the book’s category and individual number within the list of books I have compiled at the end of the work. That list has further book information such as the title, author, and which scholars within this work have recommended it. I generally only translated the book titles when it was necessary for understanding the scholars statement or in some cases that the book was available in English under that title.
The reader should take note that the citations in the list are restricted to the explicit
recommendations of the scholars found within these compiled texts.

[[…]] indicates the name, whether in summarized or complete form, or description of a
book which has been criticized and spoken about with a warning from the people of knowledge
to turn away from its use and to not rely upon it for Sharee’ah knowledge
