Gr 2–4—Pluto is no longer a planet? Impossible! When Stink learns that scientists demoted Pluto from planet status, he sets out to save it. After all, if a little planet can be kicked out of the solar system, perhaps a little kid can lose his standing in the world as well. With encouragement from their teacher, Stink and some friends prepare to debate a group of fellow students (and "Pluto haters") in front of the entire class. Following the debate, the class will vote on whether Pluto is a planet or not. Megan McDonald's chapter book (Candlewick, 2010) is full of humor, some interesting scientific facts, and plenty of heart. Nancy Cartwright does a nice job of pacing the story and gives the major characters unique and suitable voices. Fans of the series as well as newcomers will enjoy this zany tale.—Deanna Romriell, Salt Lake City Public Library, UT
