Overview

About the Author

Guy Bass is an award-winning writer, author, and stuff. In 2010 he won the Blue Peter Book Award for Most Fun Book With Pictures for Dinkin Dings and the Frightening Things and has twice won the Portsmouth Book Award (Shorter Novel) for his Dinkin Dings series. Guy grew up dreaming of being a superhero – he even had a Spider-Man costume. The costume doesn’t fit anymore, so Guy now contents himself with writing children’s books and drawing the occasional picture. Guy lives in London with his wife and no dog, yet.
Pete Williamson lives in a garden flat in South London with his girlfriend. He has worked as a designer for an animation company and also as a psychiatric nurse. Pete's interests include peculiar music, good books, and drinking too much coffee.

Some might consider the pint-size Stitch Head a freak creation; he is, as are all of Mad Professor Erasmus' "almost-life" creations. However, Stitch Head, like other real-life humans, longs for a true friend, someone that will notice him and never forget him. Once, he had that with the professor, but that was a very long time ago, back when Stitch Head was the professor's first and only "almost-life" creation. The professor has long since forgotten him. Now Stitch Head spends his days moving unseen about Castle Grotteskew, taming the professor's out-of-control creations, ensuring they do not escape the castle walls and terrorize the citizens of Grubbers Nubbin. Then one day, Fulbert Freakfinder rides into town with his circus of fake freaks, impressing no one. When Freakfinder learns of the professor who lives in the castle and creates real freaks, he cannot believe his luck. This is the answer to his problems. When he knocks on the door of the castle, Stitch Head greets him, telling him no one is allowed in. Freakfinder tries to woo his way in, but Stitch Head refuses, until the cunning Freakfinder schemes up an offer that will give Stitch Head his greatest desire: to be unforgettable. Will Stitch Head leave his dear professor at last or will he have to save him once more from Freakfinder's sinister plot? With a dash of humorous horror, a dose of loveable, freakish characters, and a page-turning plot, this chapter book is sure to capture the interest of elementary boys. The gothic-like illustrations add to the book's appeal and the humorous undertones of the plot. Friendship is a focal theme of this story bringing depth to the plot.
