This annotated bibliography of stories-reprints and original retellings-for young adults, from around the world and throughout the ages, revamps the best selling Storytelling for Young Adults. Sample ready-to-tell tales will also be included. Hundreds of story suggestions will be organized by theme within broad genre categories: Tales of the Fantastic (scary/horror, tales of suspense, twists, urban legends), Tales of the Folk (traditions folktales and fairy tales) Tales of Life (romance and relations, family and local history) Tales of the Spirit (myths, pourquoi myths, legends) Tales of Laughter (tall tales, twists and turns, etc.) Tales of the Arts and Sciences (literary tales, fractured fairy tales, word origins). In each section the author provides commentary and guidelines and a bibliography of resources. In addition, the introduction will be totally reworked and expanded with a more practical, human approach. The book will be indexed by author/title/tale title and subject (including curriculum connections). It will be helpful to storytellers, school and public librarians, and teachers working with young adults, as well as to the teens themselves. Grades 7-12.
