The opening page lets readers know right away who the good guys are and who the bad ones are. In this story Superman is faced with a formidable robot created by his nemesis Lex Luthar. Metallo has a heart of kryptonite which causes Superman to become a mere mortal. But Batman is not going to let his friend down; he rushes in with his Batwing and manages to capture the kryptonite. Now the two are able to defeat Metallo and save the Daily Planet Building as well as the Batwing. It is mayhem and destruction, perhaps a bit more than I remember in the comic books that I read as a kid. The illustrations are what you would expect in an oversized comic/picture book—bright and full of action and feature characters that have been around for at least fifty years.
