Thirteen year old Melanie Schendel has been through more challenges than most adults. Overcoming her challenges with life threatening Diabetes gave her the inspiration to want to help others. Even while fighting her own battles, she continues to be inspiring to others; she leads with purpose lives every day to have a thriving life rather than simply surviving. Attending middle school in 2011/12 school year, she plans to continue writing more books, and speaking to organizations where she can make a difference.
