That Freak Kid
An honest and real re-telling of the adolescent struggle: blindly trying to understand the world, the people in it, our own place in it and ourselves whilst still trying to make as few insane, idiotic decisions as possible. This coming-of-age tale spliced with a tumultuous romance is told for young adults by a young adult, written during and inspired by the author's own high school saga.
Amy Stevens is a high school freshman in a rough spot; she's not pretty, she's not smart and she's got no friends, none that can stand her, at least. Amy knows she has to make a change, or else get eaten alive in the new pecking order. She finds herself crossing the lines of groups and conformity, eventually coming face-to-face with the Goth king himself; Jack Holly. But the tall, black-clad boy and his friends that once terrified her are not what she once thought. Something has changed. Maybe everything.
