CHAPTER 1
Rayne and Presley may not look alike, but they are brother and sister through and through. You see, Presley is a small, gray-and-white Siamese kitty cat with bright-blue eyes, and Rayne is a big, black-and-tan Doberman puppy dog with dark-brown eyes. They were both adopted by their parents around the same time, but from different places. Rayne was adopted from a farm, and Presley was found by a friend of her soon-to-be parents in a box next to an old warehouse.
Rayne had never seen a kitty cat before, and Presley had never been around a puppy dog before. They were both so frightened when they met their parents and each other, but they quickly came to love each other and their parents. Their parents also loved them very much and showed them that every day. Everybody was so happy together they could barely stand to be apart for even a short while.
One day, Rayne heard his parents say that a friend was coming to visit. He quickly ran to tell Presley the good news! Presley was not excited though. "Why are you so excited, Rayne?" said Presley. "We don't know them, and they might take us away from each other and our parents!"
Rayne said, "Our parents love us and would never let anybody take us away! They tell us how much they love us all the time."
"I sure hope you're right," Presley said.
Well, the time came for the friend to come visit. When they heard the knock at the door, Rayne excitedly ran to see who it was, but Presley hid under her parents' bed. When their mom answered the door, Rayne saw a man and a big, black, furry German Shepherd. Rayne recognized the man. He was the nice man who had come over once before when Rayne was first brought home. His name was Andy.
