Overview

The Ramslishire family runs the business of Rockingham County, North Carolina, and they have for over two hundred years. One side of the family business is banking, finance, taxation, real estate, and insurance coverage. The other side is narcotics, human trafficking, loan sharking, and selling untaxed cigarettes.

Most of the local elected politicians are in the pockets of the Ramslishire family, except one. Rockingham County Sheriff Donnie Vermont is not for sale. He won’t bargain, accept, look the other way, or bend over for the Ramslishires. He maintains a tight fist concerning the integrity of his staff. About the Author

Marvin Cohen served five years with the United State Army, including several months in Vietnam. After returning home, he worked a thirty-year career in law enforcement, both sworn and un-sworn. During this period, he hosted a local television show, Piedmont Crime Control, and published a local monthly newspaper, the Crime and Community News and Report. He lives with his wife Linda in an old farmhouse in rural North Carolina. This is his first novel.
