About the Author

Robert Greene was likely 34 years old when he died in 1592. Probably born in Norwich, names and records being typically unhelpful, he was a university man, obtaining a B.A. from Corpus Christie College, Cambridge, in 1580. He wrote a half dozen or so plays, and numerous pamphlets on a wide range of subjects. He is known today largely for mocking William Shakespeare in a pamphlet published shortly after Greene's death.
