The Legend of Henry Pech
Set in the mid-to late-1970s, The Legend of Henry Pech, follows the start of a new life for a naïve, young man named Jack. He leaves New York City and moves out to the remote back country of Oregon's Cascade Mountains. He meets a man, Henry Pech, who mentors him to the ways of the country living. Little known to the world, Henry is a modern-day mountain man and lives a simple, yet refined lifestyle. Even though Jack does not realize it at the time, Henry leaves a permanent mark on Jack's life and memories. To any outsider, he is only a simple man, but to a fortunate few, Henry becomes a legend.

About the Author

Jack McDermott was born and raised on Staten Island, New York, in an Irish family, pre-Verrazano Bridge. He remembers in his childhood that Staten Island was the Garden Spot of New York City. The only way to get there from the rest of New York City was by ferry boat. Jack attended Public School 45 and Curtis High School. He has been an entrepreneur most of his adult life. In previous years, he was the owner of the King George Inn an historic Pennsylvania landmark and the CEO of three sales companies—two in Oregon and one in Pennsylvania. Jack has always been a country boy at heart and has lived away from the city life. He loves his country life and enjoys telling stories about his experiences, as he does here in his first novel, The Legend of Henry Pech. Jack currently lives in Pennsylvania on a small farm with his wife, Debby.
