About the Author

Inspired by FAMU Marching “Band Announcer Joe Bullard” at “Dr. William P. Foster’s Memorial Wake” on the campus of Florida A & M University, Curtis Inabinett, Jr., decided to engage his skills and delivers this extraordinary biographical display of words that vividly paints an illustrative, mind’s eye, storybook picture of the “Incomparable Marching One Hundred Band.” No stones were left unturned by the author in his quest to deliver the truth. Inabinett dedicated himself for a seven-year period as he reflected back to personal experiences of his time in the band and presented a masterpiece that tells the undeniable history of “The Hundred,” which will captivate the imagination. Although Inabinett has never taken a journalism class in his life, the “University of Kansas’ Kenneth Spencer Research Library” awarded him the prestigious “Alyce Hunley Whayne Visiting Researcher’s Academic Travel Grant” in October of 2015 to complete the research needed for this treasured book. The library’s “Kansas Collection” with funds provided by Dr. Sandra Gautt and the “National Historical and Records Commission” is a highly regarded program that documents the “African-American Experience” in the state of Kansas where Florida A & M University Bandmaster Dr. William P. Foster was born. Inabinett was born in Charleston, South Carolina and resides in the small town of Ravenel, which is only ten minutes away from the city of Charleston. Inabinett currently has the honor of being a four-term member of Council, having served from 2000 to 2009, and he won reelection bids in 2011 and 2015. After two years at Florida A & M University and a short stint at South Carolina State, Inabinett finally discovered his true calling and enrolled at the Arizona Heart Institute in Phoenix, Arizona and graduated in the highly specialized area of cardiology called echocardiography. In 1991, he became the “First totally Independent Echocardiographer in the state of South Carolina” and owner of a small mobile cardiac ultrasound service called “Cardiac Imaging & Sound.” As a “Cardiac Sonographer,” “Inabinett once worked alongside three of the top 100 Cardiologist in America” when he contracted with the “Medical University of South Carolina’s Adult Cardiology Department” and covered rural area hospitals providing “Cardiac Ultrasound Services” in conjunction with the university’s “Cardiology Outreach Programs” which operated throughout the state of South Carolina.
