About the Author
Writer and classic TV expert Michael Karol has always loved Lucy. His
biography of her, Lucy A to Z: The Lucille Ball Encyclopedia, debuted in May
2001. An expanded and revised Third Edition was published in 2004. He wrote a
companion book, Lucy in Print, in 2003, and is webmaster of a comprehensive and
frequently updated Lucille Ball site, Sitcomboy.com. Along with author Craig Hamrick, Michael
is producing a new series of trivia books called TV Tidbits. Funny Ladies, an
affectionate look at female sitcom stars, was Michael’s first entry. Future
volumes will rediscover the ABC Movie of the Week, and forgotten Hanna-Barbera
cartoons of the 1970s-1990s. Michael landed his dream publishing job
in 2003 - one in which his job description involves watching TV all day - as
Copy Chief at Soap Opera Weekly.
An award-winning entertainment journalist, Michael has interviewed a
wide variety of performers over the years, from Susan Lucci to R&B singer
Phyllis Hyman. He has served as an editorial consultant for many magazines,
including Martha Stewart Living, Fortune, and Ladies Home Journal, and companies
like The College Board and Johnson & Johnson. In a departure from his specialty,
non-fiction, Michael published the horror/mystery novel Kiss Me Kill Me in 2003.
A lengthy essay, tentatively titled Sleeps Well with Others, is in the works.
