About the Author

Charles W. Socarides is Former Clinical Professor of Psychiatry, Albert Einstein College of Medicine (1979-1996) and Chairman, Discussion Group, The Sexual Perversions: Theory and Therapy, American Psychoanalytic Association, 1980. He is a member of the American Psychoanalytic Association and the International Psychoanalytic Association. He is in private practice in New York City. In 1995 he was awarded the Distinguished Professor Award from the Association of Psychoanalytic Psychologists, British Health Service.
