About the Author


Co-authors Nathaniel T. Wheelwright and Bernd Heinrich are noted biologists with a commitment to raising public awareness of and engagement with the natural environment. Wheelwright is the chairman of the biology department at Bowdoin College and the author of numerous scientific publications. He lives in Brunswick, Maine. Henrich, emeritus professor of biology at the Univeristy of Vermont, is the best-selling, award-winning author/illustrator of more than 20 nature books including: MInd of the Raven (2006, Harper Perennial) which was named a New York Times Book Review notable book of the year; Winter World (2009, Harper Perennial); and, most recently, One Wild Bird at a Time (2016, Houghton Mifflin).He lives in Richmond, Vermont.
