About the Author

Susan Allen is the former first lady of Virginia, a mother of three, and self-described “sidekick” of her husband, former Virginia Governor and U.S. Senator George Allen. Susan is an active spokeswoman for political causes, travelling cross-state frequently for appearances. She resides in Alexandria, VA.

Leslie Harrington is a full-time illustrator, drawing the Goofus and Gallant series for Highlights Magazine since 2006. Her other clients include Scholastic, Pearson Education, Cengage Learning, and many other children's and educational publishers. Previously she worked as a background painter in the children's edu-tainment area of the videogame industry. She has a BFA from The Columbus College of Art&Design (Columbus, Ohio) where she majored in Illustration.
