About the Author

Author biography


Rita D’Alessio was born in 1935 and was raised in Newark, New Jersey. For over twenty years she worked as a legal secretary. After she retired she decided to do the things she always wanted to do but had to work and raise a family. She has been writing for approximately six years. She took a two year writing course, which was completed in January 2002. She had an article published in an art magazine called Dream/Girl.
She had articles published in the local newspaper. “Job Seekers Want Callbacks”, “Chiropractic Limit Wasteful” to name a few.
She is a member of a number of on-line writers’ workshops and also a local writers’ workshop.
Besides writing, Mrs. D’Alessio enjoys reading, cooking sewing and is an artist with several paintings on a website she created. She was a mentor to a young boy in Lakewood, New Jersey for approximately three years.
Mrs. D’Alessio is the mother of two adult daughters and she has two grandchildren.
When she wrote this book she lived in Brick, New Jersey. She has just finished her second book which will be out soon. Her new book, “Maria’s Freedom At Last”, is a sequel to “The Unforgettable Struggle”, which will be out soon.
She now lives in Chandler Arizona with her husband, John.
