The current and previous two presidents are shown in the full-color photographs that accompany the text of two to four simple sentences per page. Beginning readers will learn the three qualifications required to be president of the United States and will learn that the government is divided into three branches. Beyond that, however, the sentences are so very general as to give no information. For example, page 18 states, "Presidents work hard for the people of the United States." Other sentences in the simplified text assume knowledge on the part of the reader who may not have it at this age. As part of "The U.S. Government" series, this title includes a Glossary which assumes a higher reading level than the text, three books in the Read More section, Internet sites that can be found on Facthound, and an index.
