He pilots the aeroplane for the first parachute jump; he takes Teddy Roosevelt's daughter Alice for her first aeroplane ride. Many women admire him, but he finds it difficult to make a commitment. As a test pilot for Glenn Curtiss, he is sent to Russia to train the Czar's naval aviators how to fly amphibious aeroplanes.
