About the Author

Dorothy J. Monks, O.P., holds several degrees (an MA, an MRE, an MS in pastoral counseling and a PD in religious studies from Fordham University). She spent many years as a teacher and counselor and was the Director of the Office of Family Ministry in the Diocese of Rockville Centre. She then made a transition to health care as a chaplain at Good Shepherd Hospice in West Islip, NY.
