PreS—A new take on a classic song, this sweet and affirming ditty focuses on different animals and their young remembering tender moments of the day. Starting with a loving bear and a cub, the text opens, "Twinkle, twinkle, I love you. Oh, my darling, this is true. When you cuddle next to me, I'm as happy as can be." Other animals in the story include a fox and a kit, and a rabbit and a bunny. Illustrations show friendly creatures spending time with their young in a variety of activities, from arts and crafts to providing comfort to crying babies. This book appeals to toddlers and preschoolers, who will be able to relate to the young critters. It can easily be adapted for storytime as a sing-aloud, while large, uncomplicated illustrations make it a plus for a group setting.
