Overview

Deep in the rain forests of Brazil lives the Uirapurú, a bird renowned in legend for having the most beautiful and the strangest song in all the world. Those who hear the Uirapurú's song can never forget it. Many go in search of the bird and many never return. In her version of the legend, P.K. Page tells the story of a group of mischievous boys who set off into the forest to catch the bird with nets and bows and arrows. About the Author

P. K. Page (1916-2010) was an artist who painted under the name P. K. Irwin. She is the author of more than a dozen books of poetry, travel, short stories, and children's books. She won numerous prizes, including the Governor General's Prize for Poetry, had eight honorary degrees, was a Companion of the Order of Canada, a member of the Order of British Columbia and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada. P.K. Page will be fondly remembered for the impact she had on the Canadian Literary World, a impact that will be felt for decades to come.

Kristi Bridgeman lives in Saanich, B.C. with her husband and two children. She has illustrated several books. Her fine art pieces can be found at the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria and Sooke Harbour House Gallery.
