Degrees from the University of Oklahoma, University of Southern California and the University of Sydney, Australia. NOGI winner in 1988 (diver of the year), Fulbright Scholar and Post-doc at the University of Cape Town, South Africa. In the Guinness Book of Records for free-ascent off Catalina Island, California. Author of over 40 scientific articles on coral reefs, submarine canyons and marine geology. Professor at the University of Northern Colorado for seven years. President of his own diving company, he made over 5,000 scuba and submersible dives around the world. Worked in/off Hudson Bay, Tasmania, Great Barrier Reef, Alaska, West and East Coasts of USA, Jamaica, Bahamas, South America, Enewetak, Florida, Persian Gulf, New Guinea, Taiwan, Great Lakes, Dead Sea, Ireland, Spain and Morocco.
