About the Author

Elin Criswell is a fourth-generation Williamson county, Texas soap maker of Swedish descent. Her soap making roots can be traced back to both of her Swedish great-grandmothers, Amelia Johnson and Elin Carlson.

Elin has been making soap for over 13 years and has owned and operated her business, The Country Soaper, since 2003.

In September, 2010, Elin published her first book, Creative Soap Making. She has also been featured in articles in the Hill Country Magazine, The View and the Williamson County Sun.

Together with Starlene Moore, she co-leads Lone Star Soap & Toiletries, a Texas-based soap maker's group, and she serves as the seminar planner for their annual Soapmakers Seminar.

Her life's motto is "Simply Living for God." Her greatest enjoyment in life is to encourage others.

Elin also enjoys amateur photography, long drives in the country, peaceful solo piano music and greeting the sunrise with coffee cup in hand. Central Texas is her home with the love of her life, Danny, and their children. They live out in the country at their northwest Williamson County outpost, keeping their distance from the city beyond the hills.
