About the Author

Cindy and Cynthia are friends-and parents-who know what it's like to lose sleep worrying about their kids, feel confused and frustrated, and regret making mistakes. Raising kids proved to be far more challenging than either of them ever imagined. Both Cindy and Cynthia wanted some guidance but couldn't find a book that took a doable, uncomplicated approach to parenting. So they tapped into what they felt was the best, most logical, and underrated resource around: other parents. The two of them observed and talked to hundreds of mothers and fathers of all races, religions and economic backgrounds. During their informal research they discovered what great parents have in common, and developed a framework that allows them to parent with a sense of certainty and purpose. Cindy and Cynthia wrote What Great Parents Have in Common to share the wisdom and hindsight they gained from many incredible and generous parents.

Cindy Wood Ennis is the mother of three children ages 14, 16, and 18 (in 2010). Her middle child has special needs due to a rare condition called Costello syndrome. Cindy earned an English degree from Scripps College.

Cynthia Montgomery is the mother of two children ages 14 and 17 (in 2010). She is also a stepmother and step grandmother. Cynthia earned a degree in Psychology from UC Berkeley.
