What Teaching Taught Me
What Teaching Has Taught Me is a compilation of childhood school experiences and twenty years of classroom experiences as a teacher that have made me a very successful educator. Each of the 21 chapters begins with a true story about my past that can be used as an example of sound educational practice. Each chapter ends on a note of wisdom that is meant to inspire and educate teachers, parents, or administrators, all of whom are involved in the process of educating children and who will easily relate to the stories I use.
I have written this book for the sole purpose of improving education by focusing the reader’s attention on what it is all about—the student. This has been my mission in life for as long as I can remember. I have taught countless young children how to read, many teachers how to teach reading, and I have mentored hundreds of teenagers on their path to high school graduation. Along the way, I have learned important lessons that have moved me to write this book. Though educators and parents will be its primary audience, all who have ever attended school might see pieces of themselves in the stories I have shared. I sincerely hope that you will consider representing this book.

About the Author

The life of being a student in grammar and high school is a common experience for almost all Americans. Some students go on to make their adult life all about teaching the generations that follow their own. These individuals never quite leave the halls of enlightenment because they still have something important to add. What they add, as Christy Wiggins had done, usually changes the lives of the children who cross the threshold of their classroom door for the better, forever.
