In order to do this she poses as his mistress, which allows her access to his private rooms without causing suspicion. This is an interesting cross between a murder mystery, romance, and fantasy. Shamera could easily be a tough American private investigator going undercover as a rich man's mistress. Of course, she and Kerim fall in love, and there is the inevitable "other woman" to make her jealous. And, true to the fantasy tradition, the killer is an invisible demon who assumes the identities of his victims. Although the story is extremely predictable, right down to the ending where Shamera discovers that the demon simply wants to "go home" and helps him to get there, it is an enjoyable one. There are enough twists and turns in the plot to keep most readers' interest; the writing is good, and the characters, though stereotypical, are well defined.
