When the Hammer Drops
Make no doubt about it; this book is about real police work. Most importantly, it is about the way our loved ones are affected by our choices; the successes, failures, heart-wrenching tragedies, the generation X'ers, generation entitlements, millennials, and let us never forget the "political correctness" or "incorrectness" of it all. It is also about life and death. It addresses the true story behind a successful career of a man or men who enjoyed their work so much; they believed they never worked a day in their life. It is about commitment to the law enforcement field and trying to live by the law enforcement code of ethics. In the pages that follow, there will be graphic details of the choices people make. There will be sadness even for those who have chosen a criminal lifestyle and could quite honestly care less for law enforcement personnel, let alone their fellow men. This book spans some thirty-six years of career paths and was many years in the making.

About the Author

Norm had a very successful career for twenty-six years as a law enforcement officer. He believes in God and country in that order. A true patriot, family man, and an avid outdoorsman. He was the cocreator of a ten-officer gang and narcotics special investigations unit and created a twelve-officer mounted enforcement unit, which was financed by community donations. He is a firearms instructor and continues to train those in need. After his retirement, he became a captain for the United States Merchant Marine and later recruited into the mental health industry where he promoted skill building interventions for children and domestic violence victims. He implemented curriculum for mental health and/or substance-impacted youth. He has been the keynote speaker for team building workshops and lead instructor of job skills, life skills, and parenting workshops.

Norm lives with his wife Dawn Rene, two Australian Shepherds named Chloe and Shep, and a Chihuahua named Booboo. They have settled in the gem state Idaho where they enjoy a less-complicated lifestyle. He keeps in contact with numerous brother and sister officers.

Norm is looking forward to what his current lifestyle brings and awaiting his next adventure whatever God and life may bring which may be directing him into the Public Safety Chaplaincy.
