The animals of Thistletown have a variety of different talents, which they are busy rehearsing for the upcoming talent show. Dr. Kitty is pleased to have given nasal spray vaccines against “Fur and Feather Flu” to all of them. She tells Peanut, her little assistant, that no one will be sick for the show. However, on the day of the show Willow the Duckling feels ill. She has symptoms of the flu. How could that be? Eventually, Dr. Kitty and Peanut determine that Willow just has stage fright! The show goes on with all entertainers doing an excellent job, until Fennel the Fox whispers to Peanut in a raspy voice that he does not feel well. A good examination by Dr. Kitty finds that Fennel does not have the flu; he just needs throat drops. Peanut helps Fennel with his yodeling act and the show is a great success. This delightful early chapter book holds a lot of action and humor. The pace moves along at a good clip, and the animal characters are well done. Intriguing illustrations couple photos of animals and line-drawn clothes. Early readers will enjoy a second look at the pictures after reading the fun text.
