WIND POWER TECHNOLOGY
This comprehensive textbook, in its second edition, incorporates significant improvements based on the readers’ suggestions and demand. It provides engineering students with the underlying principles of different types of grid connected renewable energy sources and, in particular, the detailed underpinning knowledge required to understand the different types of grid connected wind power plants. A unique feature of this book is that each and every figure carries a brief explanation along with the figure caption so that the readers are not required to flip through pages of text again and again but can restore the conceptual understanding with the visuals. The saying that a picture is worth a thousand words is evident from the 260 illustrations given in the book. The relevant pictures, tables, graphs and ample worked-out examples accelerate the learning. The software-based computer simulation examples of grid connected wind electric generators is another special characteristic of this book. Still, another unique feature is the inclusion of a chapter on the much sought after small wind turbine technologies so far not available in India so comprehensively.Designed as a textbook for Renewable Energy courses offered in the undergraduate and diploma engineering programmes in most of the Indian universities, the book not only serves for the one-semester stream specific course on Renewable Energy or Wind Energy for senior level undergraduate students of electrical, mechanical, electronics and instrumentation engineering but also for the postgraduate engineering students.
