John Bowker was formerly Professor of Religious Studies at Lancaster University and Dean of Trinity College, Cambridge. He has been Adjunct Professor at the University of Pennsylvania and at North Carolina State University. He is an Honorary Cannon of Canterbury Cathedral, UK, a consultant for UNESCO, a BBC Broadcaster, and an author and editor. Among his many books are The
