Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Kathie M. Josephs

Science was never my favorite subject, but maybe if I had a book like this to explain things to me, I might have had a different attitude. This book deals with motion and Issac Newton's Laws. The different chapters have very clever titles, such as Zombies in Motion, Graveyard Gravity, Changing a Zombie's Direction, Running with Zombies, Fleshing out Frictions, and Zombie Action and Reaction. Words that might be new to the reader have definitions in a small box on the page where they are used. Very user friendly explanations are provided for somewhat difficult theories. The Three Motion Laws found in this book are: an object at rest will stay at rest unless a Force acts on it, Gravity, and for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. At the end of the book, the author provides a Glossary, Titles of other similar books, and Internet sites. The illustrations are absolutely perfect for both interest and teaching. This book can be a help to anyone, but would make a perfect gift for a science bug. This should be in every science classroom. Ever older kids will better understand Newton's Laws after reading this book. Reviewer: Kathie M. Josephs
