California author Margaret Stohl has reached out to multiple geek audiences with her writing. She's perhaps best known as the co-author (with Kami Garcia) of the Beautiful Creatures series, YA fantasies about the magical goings-on in a small South Carolina town, and its spinoff series, the Dangerous Creatures series. The first novel in the series, Beautiful Creatures (2009), was adapted into a 2013 movie. Stohl worked for several video game studios and co-founded 7 Studios. She has also written issues of the Mighty Captain Marvel comics. Stohl's other novels include Icons (2013) and Idols, of the alien invasion series Icons, and Royce Rolls (2017), about a teen reality TV star.
