NANCY WILLARD 's witty characters and lyrical poems have long delighted children and adults. She is the author of many picture books, poetry collections, and novels. She lives with her husband in Poughkeepsie, New York, and teaches creative writing at Vassar College.
ALICE AND MARTIN PROVENSEN illustrated children's books together for forty years. They were on the New York Times list of Ten Best Illustrated Books eight times, and they received the Caldecott Medal for their illustrations in A Glorious Flight, which they also wrote. Martin died in 1987; Alice continues to write and illustrate books for children. She lives in Staatsburg, New York.
